Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) In the kitchen area: The emergency stop button of the CapKold Model INA/2 Steam Jacketed Kettle with Mixer was not operable. Abatement Note: Among other feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard is to: a) Inspect the kettles periodically to ensure that all safety devices are operative and in good repair. b) Relocate the emergency stop button to an more accessible area where water cannot cause corrosion and damage to the housing. c) Follow the manufacturer's recommendations on proper operation and maintenance of the equipment. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM, FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 AS PER 29 CFR 1903.19.
