Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards while working with an auto lift: Employees operating a Rotary SP010N707 Model Auto Lift, were exposed to being struck by falling vehicles when support arms were not properly positioned, and/or the company did not perform inspections and maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, or in accordance with the ALI/ANSI ALOIM 2008 Standard. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard would be to: 1)ensure support arms are positioned on each vehicle in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, 2)ensure that the lift is inspected and repaired in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
