Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to falling off of moving golf carts: a) Sunnybrook Golf Club - On or about 7/11/10 employees are exposed to a fall hazard while riding on the back of golf carts in an unsecured and standing position. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct his hazard is: Comply with the ANSI Z130.1 specifications, Section 9.2.1 General "Do not start the vehicle until all occupants are fully seated; Remain fully seated and hold on when in motion; and Keep entire body inside vehicle." Also E-Z-Go Owner's Manual & Service Guide, Chapter 5 Operating Safety Rules and Practices, 5.4.2., and Operation and Service Information Page 5 which states "All occupants must be seated. Keep entire body inside vehicle and hold on while vehicle is in motion". Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.
