North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught in hazards. a)site, truss building - where employee(s) operated a Donway RoliSplicer machine (unknown Model #, 230VAC) while splicing 2"x 4" boards for truss production. On or about 02/19/09, an employee incurred an injury when his right hand was caught in the rotating rollers on a Donway RoliSplicer when the equipment mis-cycled (or malfunctioned). Abatement note: One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to schedule and conduct appropriate and periodic inspections, perform preventive maintenance and/or timely corrective maintenance, and maintain documentation of all inspections and maintenance records, and maintain documentation of all inspection and maintenance records. In the Alternative: 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards created by point of the operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. a)site, truss building - where employee(s) operated a Donway RoliSplicer machine (unknown Model #, 230VAC) while splicing 2"x 4" boards for truss production.
