Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards: a.)East Side of Building - The Donaldson-Torit dust collector did not have deflagration venting to the outside of the building, on or about October 16, 2009. b.)East Side of Building - There was 6" diameter flexible ducting connecting a tableting machine to the main ductwork that was not metallic nor was it grounded and bonded to present static electric build-up, on or about October 16, 2009. One feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazards is to install explosion venting to the outside of the building and to ensure all ductwork is grounded and bonded.
