Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: At the jobsite, an employee was observed working from a work platform attached to a Bobcat skid steer loader. The employee was exposed to falls to ground, struck by and crushing hazards. The manufacturer does not allow work platforms to be used in conjunction with this equipment. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: Replace Bobcat supported work platform with scaffolding, ladders or other equipment designed to be used as a work platform.
