Public Law 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling off of moving vehicles, such as golf carts, while riding, unsecured and in a standing position, on the back of the golf carts. On or about July 31, 2009, employee(s) of the Ruth Lake Country Club, Inc., were riding on the back of golf carts in an unsecured and standing position, exposing the employee to a fall hazard. A feasible method of abatement is to follow the American Society of Mechanical Engineers/American National Standards Institute B56.8-1993, Safety Standard for Personnel and Burden Carriers. This standard requires that riding on the carrier by persons other than the operator is authorized only on personnel seat(s) provided by the manufacturer. THIS ITEM CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION
