Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recogn ized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards when the wood f ramed wall that they were erecting fell backwards, striking and injuring one emp loyee. Location: 20 Teahouse Lane in Ridgefield, CT Among others, one feasible a nd acceptable means of abatement would be to: 1) Use wall jack type devices in o rder to lift the wall. 2) Employees could use ropes to assist in the erection of the wall. 3) Employees could attach the base of the wall to prevent it from kic king/slipping out as the wall is raised./slipping
