Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to THE HAZARDS OF CRUSHING OR BEING STRUCK-BY: a)Within the production area, on or about 08/11/09: No perimeter guarding was in place around the exposed sides of the robot system used with the Amada Astro II 100 NT press brake. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: Ensure the exposed sides of the robot system are guarded in accordance with the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) R15.06-1992 document for Industrial Robots and Robot Systems - Safety Requirements as specified in paragraph six, safeguarding personnel. Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
