2.Mark the rated load capacity on the device along with the manufacturer's name, serial number and lifter weight, if over 100 lb. in accordance with ASME B30.20-1993, Section 20-1.2. b)The following overhead hoists did not have the pendant controls labeled as to what they controlled and there were no rated load capacity markings on the hoist and the hoists were not operating properly and there were no safety latches on the hooks: 1.Conditioning, CM Grinder, on or about 2/11/09: The pendant controls for the overhead hoist used to lift grinding wheels was not labeled. 2.CPM, Hydropack Room, on or about 2/13/09: A yellow 1/2 ton electric wire rope hoist had a down button that stuck, causing the hoist to continue to run. 3.Heat Treat Maintenance Crib, on or about 3/19/09: A Robbins/Myers tramrail underhung crane #513 had no rated load capacity markings on the hoist. 4.Met Lab, on or about 3/19/09: A 1/2 ton CM Cyclone hand hoist had no safety latch on the hook at the trolley. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct these hazards are to: 1.Mark the pendant controls as to what they control in accordance with ANSI B30.16-1993, Section 16-2.3. 2.Inspect the overhead hoists in accordance with ANSI B30.16-1993, Section 16-2. 3.Mark the rated load capacity on the hoist or load block in accordance with ANSI B30.16-1993, Section 16-1.1. 4.Install/repair safety latches on hooks in accordance with ANSI B30.16- 1993, Section 16-1.2.9. c)The following bridge crane/jib structures had no rated load capacity markings on the bridge crane structure, the end stops on rails were missing, and/or the bridge and trolleys brakes were out of adjustment, and/or the jib crane was not within level tolerances: 1.CPM, Old Millwrights Shop, on or about 2/13/09: There was no ratings on the rail which had a 1 ton CM hoist suspended from it. 2.Central Shipping, Bay B, on or about 3/12/09: The braking mechanism for the bridge and trolley on the Cleveland tramrail 5 ton underhung crane #080 allowed for excessive travel. 3.Central Shipping, Bay B, on or about 3/12/09: The braking mechanism for the bridge on the Cleveland tramrail 5 ton underhung crane #083 allowed for excessive travel. 4.Central Shipping, Bay C, on or about 3/12/09: The braking mechanism for the trolley on the Cleveland tramrail 5 ton underhung crane #084 allowed for excessive travel. 5.Heat Treat Maintenance Crib, on or about 3/19/09: There were no end stops at the north side and south side of the rails for a Robbins/Myers tramrail underhung crane #513 to prevent the crane from hitting electrical equipment and piping for airlines and water lines. 6.Met Lab, on or about 3/19/09: A monorail with a 1/2 ton CM Cyclone hoist attached had no rated load capacity markings on the rail. 7.Bar Finish, Bldg. 52, on or about 3/19/09: A jib crane with a 1 1/2 ton Shepard Niles hoist, #431, attached would swing from side to side and the trolley for the hoist would drift to the end of the jib. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct these hazards are to: 1.Mark the rate load markings on the bridge in accordance with ANSI B30.11-1980, Section 11-1.1. 2.Install end stops on the bridge rails to prevent the hoist from damage in accordance with ANSI B30.11-1980, Section 11-1.3.1. 3.Adjust the braking mechanisms on the trolleys and brakes in accordance with ANSI B30.11-1980, Section 11-2.1.2. 4.Adjust/repair jib crane structure to within level tolerances to prevent the jib from swinging and to prevent trolley/hoist from drifting on the rail in accordance with B30.11-1980, Section 11-2.3.3. Abatement certification must be submitted for these items.
