Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: BURNS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm, including severe burns, to employees in that employees were exposed to dust explosion, deflagration, or other fire hazards from a dust collector being located inside a building: a) Bailer Area, Ohio Blow Pipe Dust Collector: Employees working in the area were not protected from a potential dust explosion hazard as the dust collector which collects combustible dust was located inside the building on or about November 5, 2008. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to relocate the dust collector to the outside area per NFPA 654, 7.13.1.1.1. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIREDATION
