Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards due to the unsecured load placed on the forks. a) Worksite located at 16 Herbert Street, Newark, NJ Employees worked from a job made platform on a Clark forklift when anchoring bracing for the wall panels to the trailer. Violation disclosed on or about 6/16/08 AMONG OTHERS, ONE FEASIBLE AND REASONABLE ABATEMENT METHOD IS TO: 1) Construct the platform in accordance with ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 section 7.37.1 thru 7.37.3 which states: a) that the platform must have guardrails and midrails on each side and b) personnel platform has to be secured to the forklift. OR 2) Perform the task from a ladder.
