Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: At the establishment located on Highway 274 in the Highland Industrial Park, Camden, Arkansas, documentation was not maintained to acknowledge that employees performing activities such as but not limited to rocket motor trim activities in Bay 13, M-2 building, had a thorough understanding of work procedures, exposing employees to fire, deflagration and/or explosion hazards. Among others, one feasible and useful means of abatement would be to effectively implement the following: (1)Ensure employees are thoroughly trained on all aspects of MK-72 standard operating procedures. (2)Establish and maintain documentation stating assurance that employees fully understand MK-72 rocket motor procedures. (3)Periodically monitor employees performing work activities on MK- 72 rocket motor casings to ensure they are following SOPs in the manner they are written and record monitoring findings.g
