Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, employees were exposed to hazards associated with falls while stepping/walking on a roller conveyor: a) On or about August 25, 2009 and at times prior, employees were exposed to falls while stepping/walking on a roller conveyor to straighten the boxes. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to install walk plates between the rollers that comply with ANSI ASME B20.1-1996, and to install a platform on the opposite side of the conveyor.
