North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to dust explosion, deflagration, or other fire hazards from dust collectors being located inside a building. a)facility - where a large wood dust collector system which maintained greater than 8 cubic feet of dust was located inside the building. Abatement Note: Among other methods, feasible abatement methods to correct this hazard is to comply with National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 654 Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Dust Explosions from Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids (2006), paragraph 7.2.3.2.2(3): relocate the dust collection system outside the building.n
