Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the employees were exposed to crushing hazards. a)Construction Equipment Yard, 2319 Richmond Terrace - Employee working on the running CAT 248 Skid Steer Loader from outside the operator's station with the bucket in the raised position did not have the loader lift arm brace in place, on or about 08/04/09. ABATEMENT NOTES: AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT HAZARDS IS TO: (a) Provide training to each employee, that is operating the Skid Steer, that meets the requirements outlined in the safety and operator's manuals provided by the manufacturer.
