Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: a)515 Miller St., Perth Amboy, NJ. An employee was exposed to crushing hazards when a sizzor lift rolled down a ramp, pinning him against a backhoe while he was attempting to move the lift off a flatbed. Emergency procedures such as chocking were not followed. Violation occurred on or about 7/6/09. ABATEMENT NOTE:AMONG OTHER MEANS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD WOULD BE FOR THE COMPANY TO follow JLG's sizzor lift emergency procedures to include chocking wheels securely.
