Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employee in that employees were exposed to hazardous conditions when employee was exposed to fall hazards. a) 5000 Riverside Drive, Keasbey, NJ 08832. Employee was elevated approximately 11 feet above the blacktop below while working from a wire mesh basket which was not secured to forks of the powered industrial truck and the employee was not donning any personal fall protection. ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD, AMONG OTHER MEANS WOULD BE TO USE AN INDUSTRIAL LIFT DESIGNED AS A MANLIFT WITH THE APPROPRIATE SAFETY PROVISIONS AND LIFTING PLATFORM WHICH HAS BEEN DESIGNED FOR USE ON THE FORKS OF AN INDUSTRIAL LIFT TRUCK WITH STANDARD RAILINGS AND SECURED TO THE FORKS OF THE TRUCK. IN ADDITION, ENFORCE AND USE PERSONAL FALL PROTECTION DURING THIS TYPE OF OPERATION.
