Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: Employees were exposed to cut and fractures of the hand finger, due to the fall of the iron cover of "trituradora" hole. At the "Cuarto de Bombas" of AAA- PAS Luquillo located in road # 3 int. 991 in Brisas del Mar Luquillo was observed employee oppening the iron cover of "trituradora" hole whith their hand, without handler wich the employees could lift the cover and open it without exposing their finger. It was documented through the interview that employees has lift and open the iron cover of "trituradora" to let out bad odors and gasses when working in mechanical and cleaning task on the "trituradora" Among other, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this situation is installing handler to the iron cover of "trituradora" hole. Empleados estaban expuestos a cortaduras y fracturas de los dedos de sus manos debido a la cayera la tapa de acero del hueco de la trituradora. En el cuarto de bomba de la AAA- PAS Luquillo, localizado en la carretera # 3 int. 991 en Brisas del Mar Luquillo se observo que los empleados levantaban la tapa con sus manos del hueco de la trituradora sin una agarradera donde los empleados pudieran levantar y abrir la tapa sin exponer los dedos de las manos. Fue documentado que la tapa es levantada para dejar salir los olores y gases cuando trabajaban en la limpieza de la trituradora. Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible para corregir esta situacion es instalar un a agarradera a la tapa del hueco de la trituradora.
