Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards. a.On or about April 15, 2008, at Tyson Foods Blountsville, AL, an employee was struck-by a yard dog (tractor trailer truck) when he walked into the path of the truck while checking trailers. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is: 1. Designate walkways for employees to walk and restrict truck traffic from those areas. 2. Establish radio communications with guards and the truck drivers. 3. Establish a traffic flow pattern in the trailer holding area.
