Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to Crushing hazards when the wood framed wall they were erecting fell on one of the employee and broke his leg. Location: 31 Woodland Terrace in Columbia, CT. Among others, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be: 1) Use a wall jack type devices to left the wall. 2) Employees could brace the base of the wall to prevent it from kicking/slipping out as the wall is raised: On or about 03/25/09 employees were erecting a wooden framed wall when the was slipped and fell on an employee. The employee sustained serious injuries to his leg. Specific abatement documentation is required.tion
