Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): The employer failed to furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees: The employer did not ensure that trolleys for the overhead track system were inspected and maintained, as follows: a.Located on the northeast side of the plant, an overhead track system has been installed to transport laundry from the automatic batch washers to the flatwork ironers. The laundry is put into sling bags that weigh approximately 220 pounds. The slings are hung onto the trolley hooks that are mounted onto an overhead I beam. The employer has not demonstrated that monthly inspections of the trolleys are being preformed as per manufacturer's specifications. During interviews with the employees, several employees stated that they have seen slings bags drop unexpectedly with the trolleys still attached. Employees are exposed to serious injuries while working near the overhead track system. One feasible means of abatement is to follow the manufacturer's guidelines on the maintenance and inspection of the trolleys.
