Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard while working from an elevated position being supported by a fork lift. a.Receiving- On 11/20/10 an employee fell approximately 8' while working in a plastic bulk storage bin that was elevated by a fork lift. The bin was not a suitable work platform that was secured to the fork lift and could provide proper fall protection. A feasible means of abatement includes, but not limited to, the procedures for elevating personnel from powered industrial trucks as set forth in ASME B56.1.
