29 CFR 5(a)(1): of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to struck by hazards. In the Vat Room area located at 105 Main St Wakefield, NE 68784. - Employer is failing to ensure that pressurized piping used to moving egg products is monitored, guarded or provided with a pressure relief device. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods of abatement: 1) Monitor the pressurized system with gauges or over pressure sensors that can alert the operators/shut down the system. 2) Provided Guarding by either distance or shielding when there is a potential for a failure of a pressurized system. 3) Provide a means for pressure relief in the event of over pressurization. Pressure relief shall be located were employees are less likely to be exposed to this hazard. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.
