Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of Public Law 91-596, the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard from standing on the top rail of a guardrail system of a work platform being elevated by a forklift. (a)Jobsite located at 236 Walker Street, Forest, MS - On or about April 29, 2009 employees were exposed to a fall hazard while standing on the top guardrail of a work platform being supported by a GEHL Telescopic Handler RS8-44 series. Among other methods one acceptable method to correct hazard is to require employees maintain firm footing on platform floor, unless the employees are secured by harness and lanyard.
