Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CUTS
Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:10/25/07 Location:Front Driveway Condition:An oak tree, measuring 18 inches in diameter and approximately 30 feet in length, was being felled by an employee using a chain saw to make a back cut, approximately 3/4 of the diameter, without a notch being cut into the tree. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow ANSI Z133.1-2006, 8.5.14. Notches shall be used on all trees and trunks greater than 5 inches (12.7 cm) in diameter at breast height.
