Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: (a) Employees were exposed to a fall hazard due to working on an unattended elevated forklift work platform that extended more than 10 inches outside the wheels of the forklift. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to follow the American National Standards Institute B56.6-2005, paragraph 8.24.1(b) for platform width and the American National Standards Institute B56.6-2005, paragraph 5.15.1(s) and 6.2.11 for attending to forklifts.
