Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the tipping over of a Blazer Diamond Core Drill. a) 87 Dekalb Ave White Plains,NY: Employees were subject to the inadvertent movement of the"Blazer Diamond Core Drill" while drilling into a concrete platform in that the drill itself was not secured to the surface by any means. This condition existed on or about 10/1/08. One feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to follow the guidance set forth in "Blazer Diamond Core Drill Operation & Safety Manual"which requires that the core drill be secured to the drilling surface. NOTE: In addition to abatement certification, the employer is required to submit abatement documentation for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
