Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CAUGHT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Bakery Department: The hazards of caught in/amputation while placing their hands in and around the backside of approximately 30 reciprocating blades to pull the last loaf, or a single loaf of bread through the blades of the Display Specialties Bread Slicer. One feasible and acceptable method to abate the hazard would be to have the feeder lever adjusted in such a way as to push the loaf through the blades.
