Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: At Ballester Hermanos Inc., frozen and dry storage: While the employees search or place merchandize from racks,it was observed that the racks in which the merchandise was stored did not have the screws that anchors the racks to the floor. In addition it was observed that someof the racks were bended as result of the blows received. Hazard: The racks fall down while employees are placing or retreiving merchandize. One aceptable abatement method is to place all the screws and replace the damage racks with new racks. En Ballester Hermanos Inc., almacenes seco y congelados: Mientras los empleados buscaban y colocaban mercancia en los anaqueles. Se observo que los anaqueles en los cuales la mercancia era almacenada, no tenian los tornillos que anclan los anaqueles al piso. En adicion se observaron que algunos anaqueles estaban doblados, como consecuencia de los golpes recibidos. Riesgo: Que los anaqueles se caigan mientras empleados coloquen o remuevan mercancia de los racks. Entre los metodos de correccion uno aceptable seria colocarle todos los tornillos a los anaqueles y remplazar los anaqueles doblados por unos nuevos.s
