Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 3/20/08, at 8000 NW 58th Street, in Miami, Florida, an employee was exposed to crushing hazards while starting up the engine of a motor grader by shorting across the starter terminals. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to follow the instructions outlined in the John Deere Operators Manual (OMT74697 G3) for a 672A motor grader. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
