Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: a)At loading docks on the North side of Building 710 at 6450 NW 22nd Street in Miami, Florida: The employer failed to provide a protection system for employees who may be injured while exiting the door when a vehicle simultaneously pulls away from the dock location, on or about January 16, 2008. Among other methods, a feasible and accepted method to correct this hazards is to use a dock gate that is secured to prevent workers from exiting the door unless the vehicle is being physically worked such as loaded or unloaded.
