Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fire and/or explosion hazard: On or about 11/26/07, a cook was required to use a propane range that was making strange noises and emitting strong propane odors. These were obvious signs of a defective range and/or gas supply system. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to establish emergency procedures that are to be followed in the event of the detection of strong propane odors and/or defective appliances. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
