Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being crushed by falling materials and equipment. (a)Mezzo Condominiums, 2171 Peachtree Rd, NE, Atlanta, GA - On or about 4/12/07, the employer failed to follow the safety requirements put in place for the site which prohibited multiple load lifts on the site. The employer had two bundles of plywood lifted to the third floor in a multiple or Christmas tree type lift. Hazard of being struck by materials. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: To follow site safety programs and implement a multiple lift restriction for employees to follow when rigging loads. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
