Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about August 7, 2008, an employee working to insulate pipe was exposed to the hazard of falling approximately 9 feet when midrails and planks were used to create an elevated work platform inside a JLG Scissor Lift, model 260MRT, and the employee did not work within the protection of the guardrails. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to: Ensure that the provisions of ANSI/SIA A92.6 - 1999, American National Standard for Self- Propelled Elevating Work Platforms, Section 7.10, are followed for the protection of personnel working from scissor lifts.r
