Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall and struck-by hazards: On June 6, 2007, an employee working on County Road 2300 East, Shelbyville, Illinois was exposed to fall and struck-by hazards while riding in the loader bucket of a Case Loader/Backhoe, Model Number 580 Super L, Product Identification Number JJG0274582. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard include complying with the Case Operator's Manual and the Equipment Manufacturers Institute (now AEM, Associated Equipment Manufacturers) Safety Manual for Backhoe- Loader which state, do not permit riders on any part of the machine and never use the bucket for a work platform or personnel carrier. ***THIS ITEM REQUIRES DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT***
