Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to THE HAZARD OF BEING CAUGHT IN: a)On or about 11/6/07, Throughout the Facility: Conveyor systems that are controlled from remote locations were not equipped with an audible and/ or visual warning devices prior to start up. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to instal a warning system that alerts the workers prior to the start up of the conveyor system, as is required in American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B20.1, section 5.11.2. Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
