Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards from fallen loads: (a) Location - Fabrication shop: On or about 2/13/07, employees were exposed to crushing and struck-by hazards from a 1/2-ton Yale underhung hoist that did not have proper identification on the pendant controls. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means to correct this hazard would be to properly identify the pendant function controls in accordance with the most applicable version of ANSI/ASME B30.11.
