Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: BURNS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970; The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm, including severe burns, to employees in that, employees were exposed to dust explosion, deflagration, or other fire hazards from dust collectors being located inside a building: a) On or about February 26, 2008 and at times prior, employees in the packaging area were exposed to dust explosion, severe burns, deflagration, or other fire hazards from the Filtere dust collector model #MT 1.8.80.790, serial # F00141, was not approved for operation in Class II Division 2 location. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to locate the dust collector outside of the building. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").
