Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970; The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, an employee was exposed to crushing hazards while working/walking next to loaded forklifts: a) On or about May 29, 2007, and times prior, employees were exposed to crushing hazards while operating forklifts in that employees are not properly trained on the safe operation of forklifts. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazardous condition would be develop and implement forklift training as required by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B56.1-1969 "Safety Standards for Powered Industrial Trucks" section 6, and as recommended by the forklift manufacture.
