Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CHEMICAL
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazardous chemicals: On December 18, 2006, and times prior there to, employees were exposed to Hydrogen Sulfide gas when the employer failed to locate the pressure relief valve, for the Amine Recovery Unit #4, in a safe location. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to remotely locate the relief valve to an area where there are no employees.
