Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: UNAPOPPROC
Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:11/21/06 Condition:Roof trusses were not properly braced in the top cord, web member, and bottom cord planes, nor were the bottom ends secured to prevent displacement. 25-1/2-inch pieces of lumber, "blocking," were used between adjacent trusses to tie them together, which is not permitted. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to comply with the manufacturer's recommendations on how to properly brace roof trusses or follow the Truss Plate Institute's BCSI-1-03 summary sheet. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
