Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LACKTRAIN
Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:10/03/06 Condition:An employee, who was preparing to saw off the limb of the tree, approximately 50 to 60 feet above the ground, using only a climbing line attached to the hook of the crane, had not been trained in the recognition hazards and avoidance associated with inspection of and the use of the safety equipments. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to intruct employees in the proper use, inspection and maintenance of tools and equipment, including ropes and lines, and require that appropriate working practices be followed in accordance with ANSI Z 133.1 Revision - October 2002, 4.1.2. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
