Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: The employer failed to ensure kitchen equipment was properly maintained: a.In the Cafe Lago kitchen, two "Montague" grills had an accumulation of grease and food. One of the ovens was also missing the controlling knobs for the burners. The employees were exposed to a fire hazard due to the grease build up on the grill. Reference: Installation & Operation Owner's Manual, page 10, Maintenance Care and Cleaning: " The complete range should be given a periodic cleaning. Lint and grease suspended in the air tend to collect in passages. Therefore , all flueways, air passages and openings, burner ports, primary air openings, etc., should be periodically cleaned to prevent clogging." b.In the Cafe Lago kitchen, a "Cleveland Convention Pro XVI had an incomplete gasket around the door and steam was coming out from the door. The employees were exposed to possible thermal burns. Reference: Cleveland SteamPro XVI, model 36CSM-16-300. Operators Manual page # 8. At the end of each day's operation, wash the pan slides, steam tubes, door gaskets and compartment interiors with mild detergent and warm water.... Maintenance: Periodically, a qualified serviceman should be summoned for routine preventive maintenance. Inspect the door gasket assembly and slide racks for proper installation and cleanliness. c.In the Rao's Kitchen, a Wolf range was missing the controlling knobs for the burners and oven. It was also observed a JR range with an accumulation of food and grease. The employees were exposed to a fire hazard due to the grease build up on the fittings. d.In the Room service kitchen a Hobart Meat slicer was observed with plastic wrap around the handle to keep it together. The handle was broken and the employees were exposed to possible serious injuries. One feasible means of abatement is to follow the Manufacturer's Operating instructions.
