Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: HEAT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being caught-in-between structural columns and large equipment/materials being moved horizontally. On or about 07/24/07, the employer failed to stabilize a heat exchanger from rolling over while being moved on "Hilman Rollers" that were not appropriate for the move, not properly aligned or secured to the load. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other procedures, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard the employer must comply with the Hilman Roller's Manufacturer's Operation and Installation Instructions which detail the proper use, installation and operation of the rollers.
