Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by and run over hazards: On or about 03/07/2007, an employee was exposed to the hazard of being struck and run over by a moving pick-up truck that had limited visibility to an area of the field where an employee was working. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to install back-up alarms to warn employees in the vicinity that a vehicle is backing up. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
