Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by lighting: On or about 05/19/2007, workers engaged in that task of pressure cleaning the roof of a residential home were exposed to bolts of lighting from an incoming storm near by. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to develop an emergency action plan that removes employees from the danger area when lighting/thunderstorm approaches. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
