Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: GUARDING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to impalement hazards while walking and working at and near 1/2 inch diameter threaded rod that extended from the concrete surface about 3 and 1/2 inches high. One feasible and useful method to correct the hazard, among others, would be to put rebar caps on the threaded rods: Stone Ridge Construction Project: Employees were exposed to impalement hazards while working at and near unguarded 1/2 threaded rods.
