Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to the hazard of falling from the 10 ft. fiberglass ladder due to the unintended, improper use of the ladder by having one foot on a ladder rung and the other foot on a section of a truck body. One feasible and useful method to correct the hazard, among others, would be to train all shop employees and managers on the proper use and care of all types and sizes of ladders used in the workplace: Workplace at 53 Lebanon Road, Franklin, CT: The employer had failed to provide employees with adequate information and training on the safe and proper use, care, inspection requirements, and limitations of fiberglass step ladders, as well as other ladders, used in the course of their employment duties.ent
