Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LACKTRAIN
Labor And Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:06/21/06 Location:Eighth Floor Condition:An employee who was washing a window on the outside of the eighth floor window, using a safety harness manufactured in 1967, had not been trained in the recognition and avoidance associated with inspection of the safety belt and harness. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to train employees to ensure PPE Window Cleaners Belts are inspected daily for defects which may affect their safe use in accordance with ANSI/IWCA 1-14.1- 2001, 5.3.3. Each window cleaner's belt shall be inspected daily. Those that have defects which may affect their safe use shall be immediately removed from service, tagged or marked with a label which states "Dangerous, Do Not Use", then restored or destroyed.
